Our Leitrim Craic
Leitrim is one of Ireland's many counties that never gets its deserved chance in the sun(because its ireland no where does) kidding but really this beautiful and scenic county has a lot to offer between Drumshanbo (often spelt Drumshambo) which is nestled on the banks of Lough Allen at the foot of Sliabh an Iarainn (The Iron Mountain).
The picturesque town itself is only 10 minutes from Carrick on Shannon and is a hive of activity during the Joe Mooney Summer School. It’s a 12-minute drive to the starting point of the hike to Mullaghgarve Mass rock and a unique viewing point where you can see 3 provinces and 12 counties. A further 10-minute drive will bring you to the fabulously untouched Poll an Easa waterfall, where you can jump, swim and paddle or enjoy the barbeque facilities available. A trip to South Leitrim would not be complete without a visit to the Barista on the Blueway, located at Lock 13 on the Shannon-Erne Waterway. The festival vibes and nearby walkway make it a must visit location for coffee and a treat.
